School Holidays Extended: New Term Starts January 5
The Ministry of Education has announced a revision to the end date of the 2025 academic year, granting an extended holiday period for all schools across the country.
According to the Ministry, Sinhala, Tamil, and Muslim schools will now remain closed until January 4, 2026, giving students and teachers additional time off.
The first term of the 2026 academic year will officially commence on Monday, January 5.
