Printing of Pending Driving Licenses To Be Completed By February
The Department of Motor Traffic announced that the printing of all pending driving licenses will be completed by February next year.
Commissioner General, Kamal Amarasinghe, said that driving licenses will be issued daily as per normal procedure.
The department temporarily halted the issuance of permanent licenses, opting instead to issue temporary driving permits, due to a shortage of printing materials.
To address the backlog, printing will be conducted at three locations: the DMT's main centre in Werahera, and additional centers in Hambantota and Anuradhapura.
Close to 350,000 driving licences are pending to be printed.
