Govt Cracks Down On Fake Job Certificates

The government has paid close attention to institutions issuing fake certificates to send drug addicts abroad for employment.

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) announced that strict legal action will be taken against such institutions.

The Bureau also advised Sri Lankan workers not to seek foreign employment while addicted to drugs and warned against drug use while working overseas.

The SLBFE said it has taken steps to repatriate two Sri Lankan workers in Israel found to be drug addicts.

One of them had traveled to Israel last year but failed to report to work for two months. He was brought to Tel Aviv by a group of Sri Lankans, after which the embassy facilitated his return to the island.

The other individual, who had been working in Israel for about seven years, was reported to have long been addicted to drugs and had not reported to his workplace.
