Colombo Municipal Council Supervisor infected with COVID
Among the coronavirus patients identified yesterday (02), a Colombo Municipal Council Supervisor residing in the Brahmanawatta, Balapitiya has been diagnosed with the virus.
The patient, aged 43, who had come home on 22 October, returned to work on 25 October. He has tested positive for the virus during PCR tests that were carried out on 31 October. His wife and children have also been directed to self-quarantine.
The total number of COVID-19 patients reported in Sri Lanka increased to 11,355 after the identification of 275 more patients. While 232 patients were close contacts of previous COVID patients, the remainder has been identified from quarantine centres.
Meanwhile, the death of the 27-year-old COVID patient who committed suicide will not be considered as a COVID death, stated the Government Information Department quoting Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera yesterday (02).
Accordingly, the COVID death toll in Sri Lanka stands at 21.
To support the operation to eliminate coronavirus in Sri Lanka, a private company in Sri Lanka has donated 10,000 masks worth Rs. 1 million to the Ministry of Health.
