Shops to remain closed during curfew, Govt to restart delivery services of essential goods

The Government has announced that grocery stores and pharmacies will remain closed in areas in which a quarantine curfew has been enforced.

Last week, the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 announced that grocery stores and pharmacies will be opened for public on selected days in certain districts.

However, the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revitalization and Cost of Living has stated that all grocery stored will remain closed during curfew.

Head of the Task Force Basil Rajapaksa said measures have been taken to recommence food delivery trucks, and delivery services of supermarkets and grocery stores, similar to that conducted during the ‘first wave’ of the coronavirus in March 2020.
