Number of COVID infected police officers increases to 222

The number of police officers who had contracted the coronavirus in the country has increased 222.

The total number of police officers who have been infected with COVID-19 in the Borella Police Station increased to 56, with another 41 more police officers diagnosed with the virus.

Another 56 officers attached to the Special Task Force have also been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The 24th COVID death was reported in the country yesterday (04), a 79-year-old woman from Colombo 13 died at her home due to a heart attack caused by the coronavirus infection.

The total number of coronavirus patients identified in Sri Lanka increased to 12,187, with the 443 COVID patients that were identified yesterday (04).

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva stated that among them 418 patients identified were close associates, while the other 25 persons were identified from quarantine centres.

Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (04) Health Ministry Media Spokesperson, Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara stated that patients seeking treatment for chronic diseases must visit hospitals and seek the relevant medical advice without delay.

He further added that if the public follows the proper health guidelines and practices, a decrease in the number of patients will be observed.
