GMOA submits six proposals to President

The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has submitted six proposals to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in respect of containing the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic which is threatening the country now, especially after the outbreak of the disease at the Brandix apparel factory in Minuwangoda early last month.

Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Senal Fernando said that they hoped that the government would take the proposals seriously and take appropriate action otherwise the situation would be worse than what is prevailing now.

He said that the proposals were pertaining to identifying the patients and mapping the spread, an appropriate and viable quarantine policy, a concrete treatment policy, identifying vulnerable areas and formulating a corrective methodology, streamlining and expanding immunisation projects in the country and launching an awareness programme for the public.

Dr. Fernando requested the people to follow the health guidelines that have already been issued by the health authorities which is the only way to face the current threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
