"Appoint Representatives for Polling and Vote Counting Centres" Informs NEC

The National Election Commission has informed that party representatives to be stationed at vote counting centers, should be appointed.

Chairman of the National Election Commission RMAL Ratnayake says that each party may appoint 7 representatives to be stationed at vote counting centers.

He reminds political parties not to wait until right before the election to do this.

According to the Chairman of the Commission, each political party should appoint 5 representatives for a normal vote-counting center, and 2 others for a postal vote-counting center.

He says that submitting the necessary documents on time and obtaining permission to enter the premises of the vote-counting center, would make the entire procedure more convenient for the political party as well.

Chairman of the National Election Commission RMAL Ratnayake says that each political party and independent group may appoint 2 representatives for each polling station.

Those representatives will be allowed to enter the premises of the polling station only if they possess a letter bearing the signature of an authorized official.

Therefore, the Chairman reminds all political parties and independent groups to have these relevant documents prepared on time.
