The fire, has now been brought under control. The fire started at a garage that also sells vehicle spare parts.

Sri Lanka police reported that it took approximately four hours of intense effort to contain the blaze.

The fire, which began around noon, later spread to two nearby houses.

According to the police, the fire started while four individuals were carrying out repairs at the facility.

Four fire engines from the Kotte Municipal Council and two from the Colombo Fire Brigade were deployed to extinguish the blaze.

“A welder came and was working inside. He went to have lunch, and it’s unclear if he left the welding machine on. Somehow, gas or oil or something caused the fire, and it started because of the welding.”
