Sri Lanka to take 20 players to South Africa tour
A 20-member Sri Lanka cricket team will travel to South Africa for a 2- match test series against the Proteas in December this year.
The Sri Lankan team will be in South Africa for the Boxing Day Test and New Year Test.
According to the Island, Cricket South Africa has introduced the simplest health guidelines to be followed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
As per the guidelines, the players will require a negative PCR report before boarding the flight to Johannesburg and another negative report upon arrival at the Oliver Tambo International Airport.
The two negative reports will enable the players to immediately commence training for the test series within their team bubble.
The health guidelines are in contrast to the lengthy quarantine measures imposed by Sri Lanka, which resulted in the postponement of the series against Bangladesh.
Despite the Sri Lankan team being in South Africa for two weeks prior to the Boxing Day Test, they will not be given any warm-up games.
England, who will be in South Africa prior to Sri Lanka to play three ODIs and three T-20 Internationals, will be secluded in Cape Town.
Sri Lanka will be placed in nearby Paarl, while Cricket South Africa is yet to announce the venues for the tour.
The two-match test series against the Proteas will see Sri Lanka engaging in international cricket for the first time since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in March this year.
Sri Lanka after the South Africa tour will host England for a 2-match series in January 2021, and will thereafter undertake a tour of the West Indies.
