Namal Pledges Unified National Vision in Presidential Campaign
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna's (SLPP) presidential candidate, Namal Rajapaksa, has emphasized his commitment to a unified national vision that transcends language and religious differences.
Rajapaksa assured that his administration would implement a fair and straightforward tax policy, ensuring that businesses are not subjected to indefinite taxation.
"Those who do business will not be taxed indefinitely. That connection should be fair. If there is always a tax, the people are ready to pay it," he stated.
He emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment for businesses, particularly new investors and small to medium-scale hotels in rural areas.
Highlighting the government's plans to promote sports tourism, Rajapaksa reiterated his commitment to supporting local industries, including fishermen and farmers. "Our policies protect the fishermen and farmers of Sri Lanka," he said.
Rajapaksa firmly rejected the notion of policies that vary based on language or religion, asserting that SLPP is a national political party with a vision for the entire country.
"We don't have policies and politics that are different according to the language spoken in each province and according to the religion. My vision is for the entire country. My vision is for the entire Sri Lankan nation. My vision does not change depending on the language spoken," he declared.
