Election Commission to Decide on Postal Vote Dates
The Election Commission of Sri Lanka is considering a four-day window for marking postal votes in the forthcoming presidential election. However, the exact dates for this voting process are yet to be finalized.
A senior spokesperson for the commission has indicated that the final decision regarding the postal vote dates will be made in a commission meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
This announcement comes after the completion of the acceptance of postal voting applications at midnight on the 9th, following an extension period.
Initially, the deadline for the submission of postal vote applications was set for August 5.
Nevertheless, a noticeable decrease in the volume of applications prompted the Election Commission to extend the application period by an additional four days.
