World Bank pledges support for Lanka’s COVID-19 fight
Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi meeting the World Bank's Country Director for for the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka Faris Hadad-Zervos and World Bank Resident Manager Dr.Chiyo Kanda on Tuesday. World Bank Project Senior Specialist in Public Health Services Dr. Deepika Attygalle and Secretary to the Ministry of Health Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe were also present.
The World Bank has pledged its fullest assistance to control the COVID 19 menace in Sri Lanka.
During a meeting held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Health with the Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi,the World Bank's Country Director for for Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka Faris Hadad-Zervos appreciated the measures taken by the Government of Sri Lanka to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus in the country.
Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi also appreciated the support extended by the World Bank since the detection of first COVID positive patient in Sri Lanka to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
She further expressed her gratitude to the World Bank for its support to the primary health care programme in Sri Lanka.
World Bank Resident Manager Dr. Chiyo Kanda, World Bank Project Senior Specialist in Public Health Services Dr. Deepika Attygalle and Secretary to the Ministry of Health Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe also participated in this discussion
