Special Discussion on Election Security Commences

A special discussion chaired by the Minister of Public Security on the security for the Presidential election is underway.

A group of senior police officers including senior DIGs from several provinces are present for the discussion. 

The Ministry of Public Security says that officials have been appointed in 11 districts for election duties.

It added officials for the remaining districts will be appointed today.

It said that a team consisting of Deputy Inspector General of Police and a Senior Superintendent of Police would be appointed to the Colombo District Election Office.

Meanwhile, Lalith Pathinayake was appointed as the Acting SDIG of the Police Administration yesterday.

The decision was made during a meeting called by the National Police Commission of Sri Lanka.
