Online Safety (Amendment) Bill published via gazette
The Online Safety (Amendment) Bill has been published by the Department of Government Printing.
Last week, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to publish the revised Online Safety Bill in the government gazette and to table it in Parliament.
Major concerns were raised by various quarters in Sri Lanka over this proposed law, including an alleged crackdown on online dissent.
Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said the amendments were made following discussions with various sectors.
He said the amended bill be presented to Parliament soon.
