Rajitha Senaratne Remanded by Colombo High Court

Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne has been ordered to be remanded by the Colombo High Court, following a hearing today (29) related to a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The court focused on the fact that a warrant for Senaratne’s arrest had already been issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.

Taking this into consideration, the High Court scheduled a future date for the continuation of the case and instructed that Senaratne be handed over to prison authorities and produced before the Magistrate’s Court.

This development follows a petition filed by Senaratne seeking to suspend the arrest warrant.

His legal counsel had informed the court that the former minister would appear before the Magistrate’s Court without fail, in compliance with the legal process.
