Aswesuma Second Phase Census to Begin Next Week
The Welfare Benefits Board announced that the census for the second phase of the Aswesuma welfare benefit program will begin next week.
Chairman of the Welfare Benefits Board Jayantha Wijeratne said that 475,000 applications have been received.
The online submission period through District and Divisional Secretariats concluded yesterday.
The first phase of Aswesuma successfully identified 1.8 million eligible beneficiaries out of a total of 3.4 million applications.
Wijeratne said that the remaining 1.6 million people are currently registered with the Sri Lanka Social Security Board.
The Sri Lanka Social Security Board will now verify and process the second phase applications to determine the next beneficiaries.
