Lower Kadugannawa section of Colombo-Kandy main road to be closed intermittently within the day
The Lower Kadugannawa section of the Colombo-Kandy main road will be closed intermittently within the day.
Kegalle District Secretary J.M.R. Jayasinghe says that the road will be closed to remove trees and rocks along the route which pose a risk of collapse due to heavy rains.
The District Secretary also spoke on the alternative routes that can be used by motorists.
He says that motorists traveling from Colombo to Kandy can use the expressway and reach Kandy via Kurunegala and Galagedara.
He also says that they could use the route via Mawanella to reach Kandy.
The District Secretary says that those commuting from Kandy to Colombo can use the Gampola road via Peradeniya, or the Kadugannawa-Gampola road.
He adds that the road will be closed from the stretch between the Mawanella town and the Kadugannawa police station.
