Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery to resume operations from today

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) said the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will resume operations from Wednesday (05).

The Refinery Crude Unit was shut down, followed by a complete shutdown of production processes on the 30th of May, due to a failure in the Water Demineralization Plant, which is crucial for refinery power generation facility.

Repair works on the boiler water system have been successful, and efforts are underway to restore the power system.

Accordingly, the crude unit operations will commence from today and other processors will start subsequently.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation assured the public that there is no need to worry about their fuel requirements, as the CPC has sufficient stocks in storage tanks.
