Education Directors authorized to decide on school closures due to bad weather
Due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, it has been decided to close schools in several districts of the island today (04).
The Ministry of Education stated that all schools in the Galle and Matara districts of the Southern Province will be given a two-day holiday today (4) and tomorrow (05).
All schools in Kalutara, Ratnapura and Kegalle districts have been given a holiday today (4).
In addition, it is reported that school holiday has also been given to schools in Homagama, Gampaha and Kelaniya education zones and schools in Kaduwela division today (4).
Taking into account the prevailing weather conditions, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has informed that the authority to make decisions based on the existing situation lies with the Provincial Education Secretaries and Provincial Education Directors.
