Filipino woman arrested at BIA with cocaine worth Rs.200 million
A foreign national has been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport with a stock of cocaine valued at Rs.200 million.
The arrest was made by a group of Airport Customs officers from the Narcotics Control Unit.
The suspect, a 47-year-old Filipino woman, had smuggled the stock of cocaine from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Sri Lanka Customs said she attempted to smuggle three parcels of cocaine weighing over 2kg, by concealing it in her luggagge with three parcels containing chilli powder, turmeric powder and wheat flour.
Customs officers said she was given $1,000 to smuggle the stock of cocaine to Sri Lanka.
