Prasanna Ranaweera in Airport Scuffle Over 'Unfair' Baggage Fee; Police Probe Underway
Sri Lanka's airport police have initiated an investigation into an alleged assault involving State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera and an airport employee.
According to reports, CCTV footage captured the incident, which occurred at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Although no formal complaint has been filed, authorities are reviewing the CCTV footage to ascertain the details of the incident.
The footage reportedly shows State Minister Ranaweera physically confronting the airport employee near a wall.
IState Minister Prasanna Ranaweera explained that the altercation arose when his wife was departing from the Katunayake Airport.
The employee allegedly demanded payment for transporting a suitcase from the wife to the passenger terminal.
State Minister Ranaweera claims that he was asked for 2000 rupees, which he deemed unfair.
The disagreement escalated, resulting in the physical altercation, he said.
