The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Sarathi Dushmantha Mitrapala, vehemently denounced the recent attempt to tarnish the reputation party, and its leader.

He said that this effort is rooted in a statement attributed to the party’s leader.

A communication, bearing the party General Secretary’s signature, highlights an incident involving Maithripala Sirisena, noting that based on the statement made on 22nd of March, the Criminal Investigation Department summoned Sirisena.

It added that Sirisena had provided a statement to the CID based on the summons.

The SLFP General Secretary said that regrettably, misinformation and distortions have proliferated across mainstream and social media platforms regarding the content of this statement.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary said that the SLFP remains committed to transparency and truth.
