Police OIC arrested over soliciting a bribe.
The Officer In Charge of the Corruption Investigation Division of the Kandana Police has been arrested for soliciting a bribe of Rs.75,000.
He was arrested by officers attached to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The Police Inspector has demanded a sum of Rs.100,000, threatening to file a case against a hotel on lease, on charges of providing accommodation illegally.
The Bribery Commission said he had received Rs.25,000 of the bribe on a previous occasion.
The suspect was arrested while soliciting the remaining amount of Rs.75,000, and he is scheduled to be produced in Court on Friday (01).
