Launch of Art Experiential Festival - Bawa Brothers in Bentota.

Sri Lanka's artistic fraternity is in for a treat with a 3-day series of events in Bentota from October 13-15: The Art Experiential Festival and launch of ARTRA Magazine's "Caricatures & Comics" edition.

Speakers and participants during the events are many and varied, hailing from all corners of the artistic fraternity. They include Juliet Coombe, Azara Jaleel, Cresside Collette, Rohan de Soysa, Herman Gunaratne, Dooland de Silva, Chevaan Daniel, Ismeth Raheem, Gihan de Chickera, C. Anjalendran, Rachel Chanmugam, Priscilla Caren, Rachel Chanmugam, and James Balmond, 

The events will be held at two venues - Bevis Bawa's iconic home "Brief", built in 1929, and one of Geoffrey Bawa's iconic hotels, the Cinnamon Bentota Beach Hotel.

The first day will be at Cinnamon Bentota Beach Hotel, and will include an "Art Tour" of works of the Bawa brothers and other artistes by Juliet Coombe and Azara Jaleel.

Day 2 is at "Brief" and begins with an "art and garden tour" by Juliet Coombe; followed by an "art talk" by Cresside Collette, artist and daughter of Aubrey Collette, and Rohan de Soysa; a second "art talk" by Juliet Coombe in conversation with Herman Gunaratne; and "art talk and teatime" with Dooland de Silva and Azara Jaleel.

The day is capped off with the launch of the "Comics & Caricatures" edition which features the works of well-known artistes Aubrey Collette, Bevis Bawa and Gihan de Chickera. Speakers include Azara Jaleel, Dooland de Silva, Cresside Collette, Rohan de Soysa, and Chevaan Daniel.

The final day will be at Cinnamon Bentota Beach Hotel, and features a tour of this iconic Bawa hotel by Ismeth Raheem and Azara Jaleel; an art exhibit of the works of Mathiskumar, Catharina Daniel and Malki Jayakody; "political cartoons and critique in the contemporary" by Gihan de Chickera and Chevaan Daniel with Azara Jaleel; "Art Talk" on Barbara Sansoni and Ena de Silva by C. Anjalendran with Azara Jaleel; "Art Healing" with Rachel Chanmugam; and finally "Art Talk" by Priscilla Caren and Rachel Chanmugam.
