Doctors protest opposite the NHSL today (11)
The Government Medical Officers' Association will protest opposite the National Hospital of Sri Lanka on Wednesday (11).
GMOA Spokesperson Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said the protest was organized to oppose the government's failure to respond to their demands.
Dr. Wijesinghe added that many professionals including doctors are severely burdened due to several factors including the government's tax policy.
He said the GMOA reached a decision to launch continuous protests against the Minister of Health, Ministry of Health and its short-sighted, arbitrary programme.
Dr. Wijesinghe said nearly 2,000 doctors from across Sri Lanka are prepared to join the protest opposite the National Hospital of Sri Lanka at 11.30am on Wednesday (11).
He said the GMOA will launch protests at district level and take further trade union action if the government fails to provide solutions to their demands, to safeguard doctors and free healthcare.
