COPA appoints two sub-committees to look into discrepancies within Health Ministry.

The Committee on Public Accounts has appointed two sub-committees to look into discrepancies within the Ministry of Health.

The decision was reached when the committee convened chaired by Lasantha Alagiyawanna.

A sub-committee chaired by MP Tissa Attanayake was appointed to investigate the shortage and purchase of medicines and submit recommendations.

The committee also comprises MPs Diana Gamage, Ashok Abeysinghe, Jayantha Ketagoda and Harini Amarasuriya.

The other committee, chaired by MP Pradeep Undugoda, also comprises, MPs Isuru Dodangoda, Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Manjula Dissanayake, Weerasumana Weerasinghe and Muditha Prishanthi.

MP Lasantha Alagiyawanna said any member of COPA can join the two sub-committees.

During the meeting, the approved number of employees at the Ministry of Health was discussed at length.

Members of COPA said they were not satisfied with the answers given by the Health Ministry officials who were present.

The Health Ministry data system was also discussed at the meeting.
