Seven Sri Lankans deported from Reunion Island.
Seven Sri Lankans who were deported from Reunion Island, an island in the Indian Ocean and a region of France, returned to the country on Tuesday (19).
Authorities said that the detained individuals are residents of Batticaloa, and Puttlam.
They had illegally made their way to Reunion Island with the aim of seeking asylum.
The group was taken into the custody of the Department of Immigration and Emigration upon their arrival, and was later handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation.
