Paramedics to launch 24-hour strike.

The Joint Council for Professionals of Supplementary Medicine (JCPSM) says that paramedics in Sri Lanka will launch a 24-hour islandwide strike across all hospitals from 8 AM on Thursday (24).

The strike will be launched citing seven demands including the unsatisfactory conditions that have arisen concerning the paramedic service and a failure on the health ministry's part to resolve their problems, JCPSM President Ravi Kumudesh said.

The paramedic service in Sri Lanka is represented by several categories of health professionals including medical laboratory technologists, radiologists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

The strike will not be held at Cancer treatment centres, maternal hospitals, hospitals for children, and the Central Blood Bank, Ravi Kumudesh added.
