Police fire water cannon to disperse protesting student monks.
The Police fired water cannons to disperse a group of protesting student monks near the Lipton Roundabout in Colombo today.
Police initiated action after student Buddhist monks of the Inter-University Students Federation staged a protest march towards the University Grants Commission in Colombo.
The protest march was conducted against the reduction in student enrollment for various subjects at universities.
