Daily train operations hindered due to engine shortage.
Railway officials said operating trains as per the normal schedule has become a challenge due to the shortage of locomotives and power sets.
They said 74 locomotives and 193 power sets are required for daily train operations.
However, authorities said only 58 locomotives and 162 power sets are operational, as 15 locomotives and 31 power sets are in need of repairs.
When inquired by News 1st Railways Deputy General Manager (Traffic) M. J. Indipolage said spare parts required for the repair of locomotive engines and power units are being imported.
