Parliament Increases Meal Fees: MPs to Pay Rs. 2000 Starting Today
A Member of Parliament will now have to pay Rs. 2,000 for their meals starting today.
This change follows a decision made by the Parliamentary House Committee to increase the fee from Rs. 450, which was the previous amount.
The proposal was presented by the government.
As per the new decision, breakfast will now cost Rs. 600, lunch will cost Rs. 1,200, and evening tea will be priced at Rs. 200.
This decision came into effect on the 1st of January this year.
However, today, the Parliament will convene for the first time since the decision was made.
Meanwhile, two regulations under the Foreign Exchange Act and the Import and Export Control Act are scheduled to be debated in Parliament today.
