National Poson Week commences.
National Poson Week commences on Wednesday (31).
Several religious programs have been organized centering Mihintale and religious sites in Anuradhapura.
The theme of this year's National Poson Week is "නැගෙමු පිබිදෙමු යෙදෙමු සුරකිමු මිහිඳු මා හිමි දෙසූ දහම" which translates to "Lets rise, awaken, use, and protect the Dhamma preached by Mihindu Maha Thero.
Chairman of the National Poson Committee Anuradhapura District Secretary Janaka Jayasundara said plans are in place to provide facilities for devotees celebrating Poson.
He added that a special traffic plan is also in place surrounding the Anurdhapura town for Poson week.
He said a special program is also in place to prevent drownings.
