No Bus Fare Reduction Despite Diesel Price Drop
The National Transport Commission (NTC) announced that bus fares will not be reduced despite the recent drop in diesel prices.
NTC Chairman P.A. Chandrapala stated that a fare revision requires at least a 4% reduction in diesel prices.
However, the latest price adjustment reflects only a 1.58% decrease, which does not meet the threshold for a fare change.
Diesel prices were reduced by Rs. 6 per litre in both August and September.
Following the latest revision, the current price of a litre of diesel stands at Rs. 277.
