Passports: Important message from Immigration department.
Department of Immigration and Emigration has informed the general public not to come for passport services without having a prior appointment.
The department further said that it’s currently only providing services to those who have booked a date and time previously.
Controller General of the department of immigration and emigration Harsha Ilukpitiya further said that measures are being taken to introduce a method to quickly issue passports within next two weeks.
Accordingly, those who are in the country on vacations, those who need emergency medical treatment abroad and those who need immediate departure for any other reason can visit the department with the relevant documents, he said.
