Landslide warning issued for 8 districts

The National Building Research Organization has issued a landslide warning to several areas over the prevailing inclement weather.

The warning is valid until 06:00 p.m. tomorrow (02).

The yellow warning was issued to Ella in Badulla District, Neluwa, Nagoda and Elpitiya in Galle District, Bulathsinhala in Kalutara District, Yatinuwara, Ganga Ihala Korale, Harispattuwa and Gangawata Korale in Kandy District, Mawanella, Aranayake and Bulathkohupitiya in Kegalle District, Rattota in Matale District, Walapane and Nuwara Eliya in Nuwara Eliya District and Weligepola, Eheliyagoda, Ratnapura, Kalawana, Kahawaththa and Imbulpe in Ratnapura District.

The area residents are requested to be on alert on the possibility of landslides, rock falls, subsidence and cut slope failure if the rainfall exceeds 75mm and prevailing bad weather conditions continue within the next 24 hours.

Amber warning was issued to Passara in Badulla District.

Residents of the area are requested to be on alert if the rainfall exceeds 100mmand continues within next 24 hours, danger of landslides and cut slope failures exist.
