A mother has consumed poison after giving poison to her one year old son and three year old daughter in the Yapagama area in Dambulla.

The mother and her two children were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital yesterday (15) and hospital sources stated that the condition of the children were serious.

The husband had come to the Yapagama area from Polonnaruwa was working as a taxi driver near the Dambulla Economic Center.

It has been reported that there had been constant disputes between the husband and wife.

The mother had made this tragic decision to consume poison along with her two children. She had taken the children to an area near Kandalama and consumed poison together.

The mother and two children were rushed to hospital after they were lying on the side of a road lifeless.

Dambulla Police stated that legal action will be taken against the mother in connection with the attempted murder of her two children by poisoning them.
