A protest organised by the CEB Trade Union Collective (TUC) was staged opposite its Fort office last afternoon. The protest was held to resolve salary anomalies and the 25 per cent salary increment that has to be given once every three years. Meanwhile, Chairman of CEB Vijitha Herath said despite the severe economic woes, the Board of Directors which convened on 7 April had recommended the salary increment sought by the the workers.
He said the salary increment would come into effect upon ratification in Parliament. However, Joint Convener of the CEB TUC Ranjan Jayalal said the protests will continue until the salary anomalies are sorted out.
