Old crocks allowed to be sold abroad

Permission has been granted by the Government to sell used old crocks that has antique value to buyers overseas.

Vehicle Regulation, Bus Transport Service and Train Compartments and Motor Car Industry State Minister Dilum Amunugama stressed that there was a high demand in Western countries for the Ceylon number vehicles bearing old numbers such as C and EN. However, some vehicles do not have a registration certificate with the Motor Traffic Department, he said.

He further said that there is no proper procedure to export these used vehicles with the Department of Motor Traffic. “If anyone was eager to engage in the re-export of used old crocks as a business, first of all they have to cancel the relevant registration certificate of the vehicle through the Department of Motor traffic,” he said.
