Student drowning in Balangoda: Teacher granted bail
The teacher of the Tenna Vidyalaya, Balangoda who was arrested in connection with the death of a 16-year-old girl while bathing in the Walawe River was released on two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each.
The suspect was produced before Balangoda Magistrate Jayaruwan Dissanayake today.
The 16-year-old girl drowned while bathing in the Batakola Ella area while 12 other students were on a field trip on the Kaltota Walawe river, Balangoda yesterday.
However, the teacher was accused of taking the children without the consent of the school principal or the Zonal Director of Education, and she was taken into police custody.
