Six killed in Mumbai hospital fire

A fire has broken out at a private hospital located at on the third floor of a five-storeyed mall building that houses COVID-19 patients in Mumbai.

In the latest update by The Hindu reported that at least six persons have died in the fire, while over 70 patients were affected by the fire and evacuated.

The incident takes place in the midst of a COVID-19 case surge in Mumbai.

The fire is recognized as a 'level four' fire and the cause for the blaze is yet unknown.

Nearly 20 fire trucks, 15 water tankers and ambulances were rushed to the scene.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar who visited the premises expressed her surprise over the operation of a hospital inside a mall and noted that action will be taken if irregularities were found in allowing the facility to operate there
