The Bus Associations state that the Police and the Road Development Authority are also responsible for the tragic bus accident that near the 13th mile post in Passara, Badulla which has at present claimed 14 lives.

The driver of the bus and the driver of the tipper were remanded until the 25th of this month in connection with the accident.

The driver of the bus is currently receiving treatment at the Badulla Hospital while the driver of the tipper was arrested after he fled from the accident site.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched into whether the driver of the bus involved in the accident was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

After the accident, yesterday the Road Development Authority (RDA) has erected a security fence at the 13th mile post on the Lunugala-Passara road where the bus accident took place and have also placed road signs indicating danger.

However, the President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association Gemunu Wijeratne stated that it is not fair to blame only the driver of the bus for the accident.

He told the Hiru news team that the Road Development Authority and the police are also responsible for the incident
