Train operations resume as usual

The train service which was disrupted due to the strike launched by train drivers and controllers has now returned to normal.

The train drivers and controllers went on strike to protest against the decision of the governing body to recover the losses incurred by the staff in the event of a train accident and it was later suspended following a discussion with the Minister in charge of the subject yesterday.

However, despite the end of the strike, trains were not operated as usual yesterday.

The Railway Control Room stated that only 17 trains were operated from Colombo Fort
