
'Walas Kata' Receiving Treatment After Jumping From Police Facility
Thilina Sampath alias 'Walas Kata', who is in custody at the Western Province North Crime Division, was injured while attempting to escape.
According to police, Sampath’s handcuffs were removed around 9:10 pm last night after he requested to use the toilet.
After returning, he requested his prescribed medication. When an officer approached to give it, Sampath pushed the officer and jumped from the third floor.
He landed on the Colombo-Negombo road, sustaining injuries to his legs and one arm.
The suspect is currently receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital under police protection.
'Walas Kata' is a close associate of 'Kehelbaddara Padme', a known organized crime figure.
He was recently arrested by the Western Province North Crime Division officers in Seeduwa with over 500 grams of heroin found in his possession.
