Cause for the death of Sri Lankan woman in Japan, revealed

A 33-year-old Sri Lankan woman has died of starvation at a migrant detention center in Nagoya, Japan, according to media reports.

She had died on 06 March after being detained at the camp for nearly seven months.

She was unable to eat due to the stress, and Japanese immigration officials rejected her request for her release, according to a note that was written prior to her death.

She went to Japan on a 2017 student visa and was arrested last year for staying in the country after her visa expired.

She complained that she did not receive any facilities at the detention center and was hospitalized twice due to poor health.

Japanese Justice Minister Kamikawa Yoko has ordered an inquiry into her death after the country's cabinet discussed the matter.

The Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun published illustrated notes by this Sri Lankan woman asking for her help.

One such note states that she really wants to eat now.

However, the Japanese media reported that she had died in her room 06 March due to her deteriorating health.

Below is a pictorial note of her asking for help.
