Army Chief becomes last military frontline officer to be vaccinated
Army Chief General Shavendra Silva today received the Covid vaccine at the Army Hospital in Colombo.
“I was the last man to receive the jab from the frontliners. I had informed that I will take the vaccine only after all frontliners are inoculated,” he said.
General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army took the Vaccine only after more than 62,000 tri service personnel at epidemic work received their vaccines across the country.
Indian High Commissioner who participated in the occasion has assured that he would get down another separate consignment of vaccines exclusively for tri service personnel at work combating the epidemic.
“I whole heartedly thanked his Excellency for the support and inspiration he has been extending in this regard, a gesture that we all deeply appreciate and commend,” General Shavendra Silva added
