Every newborn baby to be referred to an auditory test
It is planned to implement a programme to refer every newborn baby for an auditory test before leaving the hospital.
Dr. Chandra Jayasuriya, Specialist in Throat, Ear and Nose at the Colombo National Hospital stated the above at a media briefing held in Colombo on the occasion of World Hearing Day yesterday.
Specialist Surgeon Sithara Dissanayake also joined the media to raise awareness on hearing impairment and safety.
She stated that cotton buds and keys should not be used to clean the ears, adding that tissue paper should be used for the purpose
