SL fast bowler - Lahiru Kumara test positive
Sri Lanka fast bowler Lahiru Kumara tested positive for COVID-19.
He was scheduled to join the Sri Lankan team for the tour of the West Indies.
The Sri Lankan team is scheduled to leave for the West Indies tonight (22).
The players had been subjected to PCR tests before leaving.
When we inquired about this, Prof. Arjuna de Silva, Head of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket team, confirmed that one of the players in the team had contracted the coronavirus.
Previously on 2nd February, Sri Lanka head coach Mickey Arthur and batsman Lahiru Thirimanne were found to have Covid-19 at a round of PCR testing conducted on the provisional squad, which has been preparing for the tour of the West Indies this month.
"Immediately upon identification, both Mickey Arthur and Lahiru Thirimanne have been directed to follow the Government's health protocol laid out on Covid-19."
Last month seamer Binura Fernando and seam-bowling allrounder Chamika Karunaratne had also tested positive for Covid-19 and were subsequently removed from the training group ahead of the West Indies tour
