He said information has been received on various people and institutions planning parties and public events on social media for Valentine’s Day.

DIG Ajith Rohana said such events cannot be held without the prior approval of local health authorities.

He said in the event hotels or guesthouses are found to have provided their premises for Valentine’s Day celebrations, such places will be sealed and action will be taken under the Quarantine Law.

The Police Spokesman said it has been noted that a large number of people are prone to getting infected after attending public events, such as parties and weddings.
