Pensioners petitions to be considered on March 14

The Court of Appeal has directed that the petition filed by 95 pensioners seeking annulment of the decision taken by the government to suspend their pension increments be considered on March 14.

That was when the petition was taken up before Judges Arjuna Obeysekera and Mayadunne Koraya today.

The Prime Minister and a group of Cabinet members have been named as respondents in the petition.

The petitioners allege that they have been subjected to severe injustice by the suspension of the salary increment due to those who retired between 2016 and the end of 2019.
